PostSubject: Buy Candy   Wed Aug 30, 2006 7:55 pm

Help Manga-ka Club raise money by buying and selling candy to get art supplies.

How it Works
During a club meeting, we'll bring in candy/snacks. We sell you a box of 10 candies/snacks for $10 and you can then sell the candies/snacks for $1 each to other people. So really, you're not loosing anything from this! (unless of course you want to eat it all yourself, lol)

Order Candy Form
size: $10 for 10candies/snacks; $20 for 20candies/snacks; etc.

Jamie talked to me about selling candy today, so I'll probably volunteer b/c last year I was a lazy bum. I'll probably start small and if it goes well, I'll continue selling? Yeah, that's my plan for this year.

I'll most likely be selling $20 worth as a starter. I used to sell $30 worth before, so I think I can take 20 as a warm up. bow

So for me: 20.

I'd love to help! But I have a couple of questions ...

Like, um ... how do you make money if you buy the candy for $10, and then sell $10? ... I don't really get it. Maybe I'm not seeing something.

And, can you only sell it to people in school? I mean, could you take it home and sell it? Not to your family, but basically, people who don't go to Stuy.

Sorry if my posts are kind of annoying. Just wondering.

We go to Costco or BJ's to buy boxes of candy that cost around $12 per box for say 30 chocolate bars. When you buy the box of 10 candies for $10 (1 candy for $1) from us, we're earning profit since we only spent about $0.40 per candy. After buying the candy from us, you can sell it to anyone at the price of $1/candy to get your money back. We usually just walk around the school day carrying the box of candy and random hungry people would come up and buy from us. At the end of the day, we just keep the box in our lockers.

Matya- Yeah, I used to wonder about that too. But here's how it works: The leaders of the club buy candy boxes less than $10 from outside sources and hand it out to the members to sell at $10. The profit already has been made as soon as a member accept a box. What the members then do is: they sell the candy in order to regain their $10 back.

I feel like a briber about what I'm gonna say next. <_< I don't mind giving donation. But then that candy I was supposed to be selling has to go somewhere, neh? I think I'll try doing those boxes this year.
About that $3 discount- Are you really ok with it? That $3 has to be taken away from somewhere and I think the victim is the profit from each "discount" box given out.

EDIT- Nevermind, Helen has all the answers.

In my opinion Seniors sell it better. When I was selling my candy, usually I sell out by the end of the day leaving maybe 5 or 6, that either I eat or I just buy more to sell and put it there.
